Drive selection starts with load type, not just motor power. Variable-torque loads (fans/pumps) and constant-torque loads (conveyors/hoisting) need different drives and sizing.
- Fan / pump
- V/F control, energy-saving focus
- Conveyor / mixer
- Vector control, constant torque
- Hoisting / centrifuge
- Vector + brake resistor mandatory
If there are frequent/fast stops or load lowering, plan a brake resistor or regenerative unit from the start.
