ABB · ACS580Fault Code 3210Warning
ABB ACS580 — 3210 DC Link Overvoltage
Occurs when the DC-link voltage exceeds the upper limit. Most often caused by regenerative energy from the motor during deceleration that cannot be dissipated.
Updated: 2026-07-01
Symptoms
- 3210 trip at deceleration (stopping)
- Repeated fault while a high-inertia load is stopping
- Occurs when supply voltage is high
Probable Causes
- Too-fast decel ramp → regenerative energy returns to the DC link
- No or faulty brake resistor / chopper
- Supply overvoltage
- Overvoltage control disabled
Checkpoints
- Increase decel time (par. 23.13)
- If a brake resistor exists, measure its value and connection
- Measure supply voltage on all three phases
- Enable overvoltage control (par. 30.30)
Solution
Quick fixIf the application allows, first extend the decel time and enable overvoltage control; most cases resolve this way.
- 1Extend decel time
- 2Enable overvoltage control
- 3Add a brake resistor
For frequent, fast stops a brake chopper + resistor is mandatory.
